SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
VURA Camel DW adheres to all sound, clean and dry substrates free of substances which may impair adhesion. Substrates must fulfill the requirements of the local standards, be properly cured, structurally sound, dimensionally stable, free of any loose or friable particles, clean, dry and free of any contaminants such as dust, dirt, oil, grease, release agent, cement liatance or efflorescence.
Coatings of insufficient load-bearing strength must be removed. VURA Camel DW adheres without special pretreatment on wood, concrete, plasters, cement screeds, fibre cement boards, existing tile.
- Only Dry cleaning is recommended for such Drywalls. Use wirebrush if required, to remove any bond inhibiting compound.
APPLICATION
Preparing the Mix
- VURA Camel DW are supplied in ready to mix buckets.
Part A : 70 parts by weight (7kg)
Part B : 30 parts by weight (3Kg)
- VURA Camel DW is a “Reactive resin” adhesive. This means that it sets through chemical reaction between two components, A and B. It is very important to thoroughly mix these components together.
- The ratio of the Part A (Resin) and Part B (Hardener) is fixed and any modification could cause incorrect hardening of the product.
Applying the Mix
VURA Camel DW is two component Reactive resin adhesive and Mix Part A with Part B ( in the ratio of 70 : 30 by weight ) for use and can therefore be applied from the bucket. Mix Part B (Hardener) into Part A (Resin) and mix well until a uniform paste is obtained (apprx.3-5 minutes). It is advisable to use a low speed electric stirrer to ensure perfect mixing and avoid overheating the mix. Remember that if the components are stirred at high speed, the heat developed will considerably speed up the hardening process and, thus, shorten the time the product can be worked.
Mix only the quantity of adhesive, which can be consumed in 10-15 minutes.
Apply the adhesive according to the generally recognized rules of the thin-bed method with a notched trowel or use the buttering-floating method instead. To ensure void-free bedding of the tiles and slabs, the adhesive layer must be of sufficient thickness. Press the tile down to make sure that at least 60% of its surface is covered by adhesive. Tiling must be carried out on freshly applied adhesive, applying adequate pressure to ensure complete and uniform contact with the adhesive and thus optimum bond. Tiles / stones must be absolutely dry.
To accommodate for thermal expansion and contraction, Ensure adequate gap is kept between subsequent tiles/stones
